My intention with the adults classes is to build a network of fellow actors, provide a motivating practice ground, and share acting approaches and tools to achieve truthful naturalistic performances.

I take a balanced approach, teaching fundamental acting methods and rehearsal techniques, but also using quick on-set tools, growing self-sufficiency in your acting preparation, and desensitising you to the camera, set, and the audition environment.

A huge value of my classes is excellent showreel footage, shot on backdrops and locations surrounding our studio.

Trial class and regular commitment required. 18+ preferred, younger students welcome to apply.

Upcoming New Students Introductory / Trial Session

Wednesday 30 September, 6:30–8:30pm. Term 4 introductory session.

A taster session introducing students interested in joining the course to the philosophy and foundations of the class, and serving as a trial before committing to regular weekly classes for Term 4, which runs Wednesday nights until 25 November. Price: $40.

Acting for English Learners

Are you frustrated at the limited opportunity to improve your English skills with deeper conversation? Repeating the same mistakes and never perfecting your pronunciation and grammar? Maybe you enjoyed acting back in your home country and would like to try it in English?

After two years teaching acting locally, I'm launching a new class to improve your English through acting. I truly believe this will be one of the single most effective English learning tools, and it's still a heap of fun.

The fun of performing dramatic scenes, paired with invaluable coaching to help your pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Gain confidence speaking in front of others and even on camera, in a supportive, fun environment.

About Amalia

It's hard to believe, but English is actually my second language too! I'm originally German and I have huge compassion for those learning English, as well as being meticulous and passionate about others learning to speak well. I hold a Diploma in Performing Speech and Drama, a film degree, have two years experience teaching acting here in Queenstown, and some professional acting experience too.

You don't need to be an aspiring professional

Non-actors find huge value in the class. Acting training builds: confidence and public speaking, comfort in front of a camera, listening and being present, memory training, the experience of conquering something that scares you.
