Amalia Remus, screen acting teacher in Queenstown

Amalia Remus

Actor, teacher, filmmaker

Teaching with an infectious passion for acting and filmmaking.

Hi, I'm Amalia Remus.

I moved to Queenstown from Auckland in 2023 with a simple observation: this city is becoming one of New Zealand's most exciting filming locations, and its actors deserve a serious place to train.

Amalia Studio grew from that gap. What started as a practice ground for fellow actors has become something I'm genuinely passionate about. Helping people of all ages discover what they're capable of in front of a camera. Whether that's a shy eight-year-old finding their voice, a teenager who wants to understand how a real set works, or an adult who's always wondered what they could do with proper training.

I bring real industry experience into every class. I've worked on over ten professional TV productions in Auckland, including roles on Shortland Street and Double Parked. I trained for 80 weeks in the Meisner technique under prominent US coach Michael Saccente, hold a Trinity ATCL Diploma in Performing Speech and Drama, and a Bachelor of Arts in Screen Production from the University of Auckland. I also work as a casting assistant for commercials and coordinate the Southern Filmmakers Collective.

I'm not a teacher who sits at the sidelines on a high horse. I'm in the thick of it with you: playing, encouraging, and pushing you to find out what you're actually capable of.
